Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Top of the mornin' to ya! I am sorry it has been a while since my last entry. Dad left on Monday morning and work has been busy since Thomas and I are taking vacation tomorrow and Friday! YIPPEE!

So... Dad's visit was nice, in spite of the weather. It was not, however, birthday related AT ALL, at least not for me. He and my sister did end up doing a belated birthday dinner and some birthday shopping, but he and I just did a "regular" dinner, sans shopping. No Anthro... sad.

Friday night, the weather was just starting to deteriorate. My dad, sister, and I went to my Aunt Linda and Uncle Tom's house in Greenwich for dinner. I LOVE them! Their kids, Jessie and Max, are both away at school (Middlebury and Boston College, respectively) so I think they really loved the company of family. Saturday started with brunch at the diner followed by a visit and a little chit-chat at the Shreck's (my dad's BFFs). From there, the three of us met Thomas at the movies to see Shutter Island.

IMDb
For those of you who think it is a horror film (because that's what the previews will lead you to believe), while it is eerie and dark, it is not the jump-out-and-scare-you type... It gets into your head and is really more of a suspense/thriller.

Lauren and I loved it. My dad hated it, saying it was "too dark." He says himself that he likes "chick flicks" so I don't know why I am surprised at his reaction. Thomas seemed indifferent. Oh well. Different strokes...
When we got out of the movie, it was seriously like the twilight zone outside. Most of the power was out and it took FOREVER to get back to the highway because of all the downed trees and wires! I felt like I was driving through some freaky zombie movie! Dad, Thomas, and I braved the insanity that was the weather and went to Bobby Q's in Westport, which is one of my all-time favorites. It never disappoints and this visit was no exception! My favorite dish is their brisket with corn bread and cole slaw. Their sweet potato fries are also deeeeelish!

Then it was back home to avoid the storm. We watched Michael Jackson's "This Is It" which, for those of you who have not seen it or are skeptical, is spectacular! Even Dad loved it!

On Sunday, Dad, Lauren and I met for brunch at Martel in Fairfield. They have a great French-style brunch; I highly recommend. Their dinner and wine menus are also to die for! If you decide to try it out for dinner, make sure you sit in the dining room. While the tables in the bar are great for people watching, conversations are nearly impossible because of the volume. Later that afternoon, Dad, Lauren and I went for manicures... yes, Dad got one. I know. I am laughing hard just writing about this... We then went birthday shopping at one of my favorite spots, and Lauren's place of work, Banana Republic!  She got one of their new bags with the knot closure...

The bag is gorgeous ... I am super jealous.  Dad and Lauren had dinner together at my favorite local restaurant, Strada 18.  She dropped him off and everyone went to bed not long after (it was a work night, after all!).  I brought dad to the train super-early Monday morning.  All in all, I'd say the weekend was a success!

Side-note... this time change is really messing me up.  I hate waking up when it is still dark outside!

I have discussed in previous posts, my Wishlist on Anthropologie's website...  I am happy to report that I bought myself a little present yesterday afternoon...

I promise, I actually did need this top.  You see, Thomas and I are heading down to Maryland tomorrow to celebrate his grandmother Lil's 80th birthday!  The whole gang will be in for the occasion so they have arranged to have family photos taken... and someone decided it would be "cute" if each nuclear family (i.e. Thomas, his mom, dad, and brother) wore the similar/matching outfits.  I (obviously) had not thought I would be in the photo given that I am his girlfriend and not "officially" a member of the family (I sure do feel like one though!).  I was very, very wrong, and was informed Monday that they, specifically his dad TJ, wanted me in the photo.  I was so flattered that I cried a little.  They were planning on wearing light blue/aqua polo shirts and of course, the only thing I had that matched in the slightest was a yucky hoodie.  Hence, the need for something new and special!  Voila!  Needless to say, I was very excited to snag something on my Wishlist and I didn't have to feel guilty about it!

That's all for today... I hope everyone has a happy and safe St. Patrick's Day!  May the luck of the Irish be with you all!
